I worked at Meadville Medical Center (More than 5 years)

Competitive compensation, benefits, and vacation time

-Dingy, tired looking hospital; in need of a massive overhaul; not only in appearance but an overhaul of dead wood management (most who have been there 30+ years). Time to step into the 20th century. -All employees look like they would rather be somewhere else, no one smiles, everyone looks dour and stressed. -Zero support from management, culture of blame, support staff virtually non existent. Professional staff has to help the support staff. -The highly questionable practice of hiring support staff who have no experience working in a professional clinical department. -Back stabbing co workers, massive micromanagement, and needless over-complexity. -Very difficult to work where one may work 3-4 different shifts during work week. Standardize work schedule into a 8-10 work schedule matrix. This is a reason why errors occur.

    Advice to Management

-Start listening to your employees when they have concerns and support them. Good employees are the backbone of any successful organization. -Stop micromanaging. -Make hospital more attractive and appealing. Invest in upgrades to better serve your patients. -Eliminate culture of blame and eliminate long term management who aren't moving their departments forward. -Give employees better tools to work with. A professional is only as good as the tools he/she is given.
