    Pros

The organization's values and mission are awesome. You truly get a feeling that you are making a difference around the world when you look at the impact that is being made in developing countries. Metrics on how successful a team is are based off of how many people were impacted and/or how many lives were saved. You always know that you are showing up each morning to make a difference, not to make shareholders richer.

Work-life balance is definitely encouraged. You might have to work 50 hours a week, but beyond that you will rarely be asked for much more (unless something like the recent outbreak of Ebola in West Africa requires extra work for a season).

    Cons

It is a medium sized non-profit, so benefits are in line with that type of company. Salaries are probably a little bit on the low side, even compared to similar non-profits. There is also limited room to advance a career. Some recent changes in organization have spurred staff to leave for other organizations because they can no longer advance into a position that fits their career goals. If you don't love the mission, you will go elsewhere because the salary and benefits just aren't up to the level of other orgs.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Relying on the mission of the company to retain employees is certainly a way to keep costs low, but ultimately causes a loss of the best employees to other organizations.
