I worked at Meridian Health Plan full-time (less than an year)

    Pros

I went to work there because a friend of mine had been there a few months and really liked it. Great benefits and oppertunities on paper. The longer we were there, things started to change. Her responsibilities and role changed, and so did mine. Very young environment, and a "start-up" feel. Looks very promising and full of potential when you start. Oh, and there are always bagels on Fridays!

    Cons

Constant change and upheaval. Senior management doesn't seem to respect it's nursing professionals. Other departments, and staff members, are treated differently. They also feel that a nursing license is optional to preform nursing activities. Many times employees have to rush to finish a project due to poor communication from management. Most of senior leadership are from one family and their friends, even if a person isn't truly qualified to be in the position, they are given the position anyway. That creates more issues. They have also gone through Several Dir of CM, so continuity is difficult.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

There are some great people working there, yet there is no real recognition of their contributions. Nursing staff are there because they " need the job", not because they like it there. Which is very sad. You also have some great ideas and programs, but whenever you get someone with real ambition and knowledge, you find a way to destroy them, instead of encouraging them, and coaching them. Seems like a real waste of money. Your reputation in the case management community is not a good one. I really hope that would change, so that the members have the quality care they deserve.
