    I worked at Merkle


    The lighting in the office was adequate
    Ability to telecommute
    Cubicles had high walls
    A handful of excellent coworkers


    Cowboys are rewarded: People are encouraged to work hard, not smart. For example, warnings to management of an impending problem are largely ignored. When the problem ultimately blows up and causes 10 people to work around the clock over the weekend, those 10 people are rewarded and considered heroes. How about solving a problem BEFORE it becomes an emergency?

    Manager and Directors are not supportive. They ignore and distance themselves from employees who are struggling. Overheard in a manager/director meeting, "If those people are too stupid to ask for help, they deserve what they get." I kid you not.

    Merkle University is just about useless. It will not get you a professional certification, nor any other professional development you can or would include on a resume.

    High attrition: Due to the "cowboy" mentality within the company, and the fact that there is little to no professional development available, people don't seem to stick.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    Merkle Management would greatly benefit from formalized "management training" provided OUTSIDE the company (not from the in-house motivational speaker).
