I have been working at Merrill Lynch full-time (more than 5 years)

    Pros

Work-Life Balance is good since you're an hourly employee and do not have access to emails/phone, etc outside of work. Salaries are decent but you have the opportunity to make more depending on the FA(s) you work with since they can add supplemental pay. This is something that you'll need to negotiate directly with the FA.

    Cons

Basically a glorified assistant position. There is no career growth opportunities unless you want to become a Financial Advisor. Very stressful job and it seems like every year CAs are expected to do much more without more pay. CA work moral is very low.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Make CAs feel like valued employees. I know the FAs are important since they bring in revenue but without the CAs, ML would not be the prestigious firm it is today.
