I worked at MetLife (More than 10 years)
For a couple decades I worked for MetLife, until the decision was made to relocate IT to North Carolina. During my time there, I was given every opportunity to succeed and make significant contributions to the technology solutions there. The environment is mostly supportive and collaborative, and strong relationships and teamwork dynamics are allowed to flourish - these informal relationships are as important as the structured ones, and are often leveraged for success.
Do not ever make a change without having followed the proper change management procedures, this is actually grounds for termination! Although there is an understand that mistakes will happen, to make a change without authorization - and have that change go sideways - you don't want to be there.
Advice to Management
Keep the culture fun but please know that when the bell rings, it's all hands on deck. Seems like by 4:30 the building gets pretty empty, and sometimes the sense of urgency is lacking.
