I worked at Metro Systems (VA) full-time (More than a year)

Fun co-workers, good office location on the waterfront, one nice dinner or event each quarter.

Metro Systems is a vampire in the staffing industry - luring in fresh young recruiters and quickly sucking the life out of them. Work-life balance dramatically decreased during my time at Metro Systems to the point that employees regularly talk with each other about how they are too demotivated to even look for new positions. There is nothing that sets Metro Systems apart from other staffing companies, but management would force you to nickle and dime any potential recruits to the point that most of the good prospects in the area wouldn't return calls to Metro Systems. Training - if you can call it that - is a joke. If you are looking for an organization that will provide you with leadership and resources to make you a better salesperson, recruiter or anything in the business world, look elsewhere. There have been very few successful recruiters and/or account managers in Metro Systems history. Very little communication between management, account managers and recruiters internally, with even less communication with external clients. Recruiters have a very tough time doing their job successfully because of the lack of communication with hiring managers, leading to three month interview processes in which potential hires bail out because of the hoops to jump through. There are hundreds of better staffing companies in the DC area.

    Advice to Management

Fix the company morale. Put someone - anyone - else in charge of internal recruiting. Learn to speak with your employees - all of them, not just one or two. Implement a halfway decent training program. Again, get some better internal recruiting.
