Current Employee - Manager in Chicago, IL

I have been working at MillerCoors full-time (more than 8 years)

Beer is a very fun industry, and very tangible; a lot of pride working in a business where you can see fruits of labors. Work life balance is good. Compensation is very competitive and comparable for some jobs. You can do a lot of jobs in a short span if you choose or stay with one. Beer events and pub benefits are great way to nurture company culture; training opportunities are great; coworkers are phenomenal people on the whole; vacation time paid off is well above norm or average; good diversity in the lower ranks.

the company promotes the old school/ good ol boys type culture; it's not truly results driven, as multiple have been promoted with nothing to show for it; old school culture has allowed people to get away with serious violations of ethics and morals. The company manages by exception; and also tries to consensus build all the time. There are clearly people who aren't fit to be people managers, yet don't get dinged in ratings, which continuous a vicious cycle of poor development and bench readiness. . Company is extremely resistant to change considering the numbers have been so poor recently.HR needs a complete rejiggering. Don't feel like they can be trusted at all to do the right thing. Lack of multicultural focus is alarming. Poor execution. Company throws ideas up on the wall and expects instant growth versus long term strong growth. And then they restructure the instant they don't see 10% growth. Company leaders focus on short term incentives just to generate cash for parent companeis. Either admit that we're biased completely against that, or at least stop trying to pretend we're poised for long term growth. Older beer veterans shun and stop innovative change and though. COmpany is way too siloed. groups generally aren't cross functional There is absolutely no culture in corporate. I've been there since day 1 of the JV and the HQ building, and wouldn't be able to tell you what it is.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Make sure people managers are actually responsible for development. doesn't matter how good results they deliver if they shirk on their people responsbilities.

Stop consensus building all the time; We are too slow to market, and can't get anything executed at 100%. Please get rid of people that aren't pulling their weight

Be proud and admit fault; let people that want to exact change do it!

Stop killing culture. Limiting pub hours and other things limit the ability for people to actually bond outside of a work setting.

The only senior management I trust right now is supply chain, who i think is doing a pretty phenomenal job in the wake of a schizophrenic commercial organization. So keep up the good work

    Doesn't Recommend
    Negative Outlook
    Disapproves of CEO
