I worked at Milliken full-time for more than 5 years

    Pros

You can make a living while you look for a real company with a future.

    Cons

The company has one stakeholder - the Milliken family. Everyone else is an expense to be squeezed as hard as possible paid as little as possible, and replaced with a cheaper employee at the first opportunity. When I worked there they had 25,000 employees. Company lore told over and over was how company President Roger Milliken closed the Darlington South Carolina textile mill in violation of US labor laws in retaliation for the employees seeking union representation, - which tells you all you need to know about the ethical environment of Milliken & Co. The company fought the case through the courts for more than 20 years but lost and paid settlements to the employees, but the effect was to intimidate the remaining employees from seeking better wages. Another oft-told story was about "black Friday" when the company eliminated 5000 employees without warning. I see they are down to 5000 employees, so there must have been many more dark days since I left. The telltale fact about the company is employee turnover. Milliken recruits college grads and 99% of them are seeking another employer within 24 months. Don't waste your life here.
