    Pros

My mentor in my department invested a lot of time in my development, department was recognized when we reached critical business goals by upper management, focus on training and safety, flexible work hours, lots of opportunity for overtime.

    Cons

High-stress and demanding project management. In-fighting and bickering between project members. Everyone blames the contractors for any hiccups in product development. High turnover of contractors on the floor lead to knowledge transfer loss and ultimately to slow down of product development. There was a woman on the floor and she was a complete bully, an instigator, a tattletale, and a cheat - management knew of other employee's issues with her and did nothing.

    Advice to Management

Hire the competent contractors! The time your management spends searching for new contractors due to high turnover would pay their salaries! The cost of training new people every 3 months, having zero group cohesion, no company loyalty amongst contractors, having no incentive to perform as a contractor because you'll never be hired on anyway, is HIGH. Give your contractors a chance!
