I worked at Monster Inc full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

Anyone who has worked at Monster knows that there are a lot of fun people that work there. Musicians and artists are everywhere. The company tries to create a dot-com era environment with some nice parties every so often. The environment is "fast paced" and for someone straight out of college, you will be able to learn how a dysfunctional company is run, learn and polish some software skills and you may even be able to join in the mayhem.

    Cons

Management will often makes last minute decisions after not making a decision for weeks on end. This leads to very disjunctive marketing messages and a lot of wasted resources, time and money - not to mention really sloppy work. Many of the managers are not qualified to be managing their departments as they have not actually done any of the work they are attempting to manage. Lack of respect for in-house experts.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Make decisions based on real data not on past failed attempts and be accountable. Upgrade your ancient FileMaker marketing database with modern technology. Focus on creating excellent products, not on all the marketing fluff. Get your data and content together. Invite people who actually do the work to some of your meetings so that you can make informed decisions, not ill-informed ones.
