I have been working at Montgomery County Public Schools (Maryland) full-time for more than 5 years

Benefits are amazing and you have the summers off, but you don't get paid unless you volunteer to have money taken from your bi-weekly paycheck.

Communication trickles down and each school has a different dynamic that can really impact teacher's performance. You need to take continuous classes to enter different pay brackets. County standards and curriculums constantly change each year and no training is provided. No matter where you teach, being a teacher comes with isolation.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Raise the requirements of education majors - no classes in college applied to the real world of teaching. If you want to mainstream children, that's fine, but be sure your teachers are equipped for the challenge.
