I worked at Morgan Stanley full-time (more than 10 years)

    Pros

Some friendly, social people. Opportunity to follow some interesting financial investments.

    Cons

The clients are all angry, retired pensioners with nothing better to do than call you up 20 times a day asking about their missing $0.50 div check or blame you for the market taking a nose dive. You are GLUED to your office land line because the phones are the primary means of communication in that business so you are not allowed to leave your desk if no one is available to cover your line. Not for lunch, the bathroom, anything. Some coworkers are douchey, money hungry "Wolf of Wall St" types who think they'll all be millionaires in a few weeks time, only to find how easy it is to wash out of that business without a stable book of clients behind them. I've seen so many people quit or get fired in my time there because the pressure to land clients got to them. Bottom line - It's a high pressure sales job, at the end of the day.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Treat your employees like human beings and not stocks to be traded or sold off on a whim.
