I have been working at Motorola Mobility

    Pros

-Work Life Balance is usually good, some peaks and valleys like many other competitors
-Easy communication between different work groups/functions
-Great benefits (from Google) - not sure how long they will last now, with Lenovo
-Some good ideas from new SLT group seem to be making day to day work better - more social, more fun events, creates better cross function relationships
    - Really good products, both hardware and software

    Cons

-Still a lot of old blood, doing things the old way - boys club
    - No career growth, the middle managers don't leave, so new blood hits a ceiling and then moves on
    - budgets continue to get cut, teams get smaller and smaller but more work is required of each individual
    - They say they value candid feedback or ideas but that is not really the case

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

-Really take a look at some of the people that have been around for 25-30+ years in the same position, are they really effective?
-Review your "open door" policy and teach middle management to be more accepting of both positive and negative feedback and new ideas.
-Also, back fill some of the positions that have left over the past 5 years, we do not have enough people, things are falling through the cracks.
