I worked at Motorola Mobility full-time (more than 5 years)

It is more open than Apple, as in you are free to talk to and ask your colleagues what they are doing most of the time - so you got the chance to learn stuff outside of your area. It is big enough a company to have experts in most of the fields, so a lot of great people to learn from.
Headquarter is in Chicago, which the cost of living is pretty low, considering it is the 3rd biggest city and the downtown is quite happening, with great public transportation system. A lot of things to explore. Most other hardware engineering companies are usually in the suburbs, which can be pretty boring - but Motorola is in the heart of downtown.

Since the company is doing just alright, not like Apple which is making obscene profit, the salary, bonus, benefits and perks is not as great.
Even though they have done a lot to energize the company, it is still a pretty old company. The average age is higher than the younger company in the west coast for sure.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

I know it is not easy to have an amazing product idea or to stand out in such a competitive market. But that is what the company has to figure out and focus on.
