    Pros

Expectations for good work are minimal.

    Cons

NAMI is bought and paid for by pharmaceuticals. Alot of senior management time is spent catering to the pharma agenda (e.g. no formularies, access to the most expensive and least effective medicine, etc.). Worse, however, is that they deny all this and view themselves as running the people's organization. It isn't so. Top managers are self absorbed, spoiled and clueless. The National BOD consists of executive directors of chapters so governance is impossible and standards are toothless.
