I have been working at NCR full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

There is opportunity if you make it for yourself, but sometimes it's a tough plow. With three major lines of business (banking, retail, and other) you can make an impact in various ways.

This is a *very* political organization - if you find your way and hitch your wagon to "political animals", you'll do fine.

    Cons

This isn't a technology company - it's a 130-year old manufacturing relic who happens to sell technology products (an ATM is a computer, after all). The movement to software and services is a facade.

Training is minimal in most parts of the company. Promotions are political - the vast majority of people are hired to a level, and stay there (often for their entire career). In 2013, NCR "re-titled" people, screwing many out of VP, director, and even manager titles.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Listen to employees. Read Glassdoor. Pay people what they're worth - and also pay for cell phones/home Internet like other technology companies.

The biggest gap is Marketing - you need to get the word out about what NCR does. The general population STILL thinks "cash registers" and business people immediately zoom to "ATM's". Even the former Radiant can't get out of its "Aloha" heritage.
