I have been working at NCR full-time (More than 3 years)

The management of any process has profound impact on the use of adaptive management in that process. As of 2015, NCR has declared that it is finally time to start focusing on customer satisfaction and product engineering quality. Fellow engineers are very good to work with. I believe this is the only reason the Salt Lake department exists is because there are some really good people working here, and working hard. You pay can go up! But only if you are an executive...

Despite the new process declaration to improve product quality and stability, management has made no changes to adapt to this goal. To cover their own mistakes, management has launched a scapegoat push to supposedly help selected engineers improve their job performance through a legalistic process referred to as a Performance Improvement Plan (PIP). Engineers who have been selected for this process include the whistle blowers, and others who are deemed as threats to management personnel. Customers who purchase the product are increasingly becoming dissatisfied due to the number of software bugs. The lack of quality control stems from the ever-increased push for shortcut taking and discrediting those with vision.

    Advice to Management

The best managers ask, “How can we harness employee strengths, interests and passions to create greater value for the firm?” Upper management needs to understand that the immediate managers, program managers, and product owners are not asking these questions and are not actively involved with their engineers. If it were up to the engineers, most of the existing managers, program managers, and product owners would be immediately fired.
