Former Employee - HDS Contract Trainer for HDS Education in Washington, DC

I worked at NIIT as a contractor for less than a year

Work with HDS Education and lab use. Train customers and partners in HDS technology.

Last minute changes that cost you as a contract trainer. NIIT bill rate was lower than some other vendors. Payment was sporadic and travel subsidy was prorated based on number of days and was very unfavorable for engagements less than five days. Travel rate did not cove last minute airfare and hotel in full. Never mind rental car and other expenses. Also, NIIT has a wealth of H-1B visa trainers so you as a contract trainer were called in only if the H-1B was not available. Basically, a full time trainer with NIIT worked about 12-14 out of the month with luck.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Stop screwing the trainers on travel. Most of the trainers know you get bonused on keeping expenses travel lower and for using your travel company. Last minute changes on flights kill the profit for the contractor. Using your Indian travel company is frustrating and the cheapest flight almost always wastes a 10-12 hour day on a 5 hour flight.
