Current Employee - Field Interviewer in San Francisco, CA

I have been working at NORC at the University of Chicago part-time (more than an year)

    Pros

Flexibility in setting schedule; allows you to work remotely; NORC has an excellent reputation; the work is interesting much of the time.

    Cons

How your experience will be is highly dependent on your field manager; some field managers are simply not terribly bright. It's not a permanent position and you may have to wait many months between assignments. Not much opportunity for advancement.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Once an interviewer has been trained in general interviewing techniques, there's no reason to make experienced interviewers come to Chicago to train for each new project; remote training is much more convenient and just--if not more--effective. The trainings in Chicago are tedious and sleep-inducing.
