Former Employee - Engineering Manager in San Jose, CA

I worked at NXP full-time (more than 10 years)

    Pros

    - Technologically deep
    - Getting to be a strong business oriented culture - thanks to PE ownership
    - Focusing on markets which fit the european mindset now
    - Good people orientation (till 2010 - not sure now)
    - Good work life balance (till 2010 - not sure now)

    Cons

    - Europe centric decision making, lots of power point paper tigers
    - PE ownership has destroyed a lot of the old culture and values of the company
    - Any cuts always get made in USA first and Europe second
    - PEs constantly meddle at corporate HQ with new ideas and initiatives leading to lots of overload

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Think less about returns to PE and more about long term future of the company and its people

    Recommends
    Positive Outlook
    No opinion of CEO
