I have been working at National Association of Intercollegiate Association as an intern (more than a year)

    Pros

The NAIA is a fantastic organization. The people you will work with are not only hard workers and very professional, they are even better people. It's a small office, so you get to know everyone pretty well. There is an office comradery and togetherness, that it truly feels like you are part of a real team working towards the same goal. It's a great place to get your start regardless of what department you are in.

    Cons

There are two cons about the NAIA. One is the lack of advancement. The NAIA is a small organization and after you achieve manager level, there is no where else to move. Which for young professionals can be a red flag. It all depends on what you want in your career.
Secondly, people in the office and the management team come up with great ideas to create new revenue sources and improve the organization as a whole, but must receive approval from a higher council before making any serious changes. That council frequently shoots down good ideas that the management team has spent months developing which is frustrating to see.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Keep brainstorming and coming up with creative ways to improve the organization. Eventually your ideas will gain support. Great group of people on the management team, very down to earth and laid back. Very approachable, which is rare to find.
