    Pros

If you absolutely love "work-life-balance" and don't care to grow or learn as fast as you can, this is the place to be. People spend good amount of time planning for their vacation days, sporting events and personal affair during working hours. The hours, salary, stability and compensation packages allow you to feel truly relaxed and settled.

    Cons

Caveat: After working here long enough, you most likely will lose the mojo/edge to compete in private sectors. For kids fresh out of school, this place gives you a false illusion of the real world. You get information here (a lot), you don't quite develop expertise(there are rarely any experts around). Since this is a quasi-government agency, the monopoly position really doesn't provide any incentive for the organization to grow or try new things. Senior managements care more about politics and keeping peaceful facade than making progress. Understandably, meeting status quo is sufficient to look good. Want to find even more "relaxing" place, try CFTC.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

You are doing what you do best already, to look good and keep looking good. Who give a damn about average American consumers? Please make sure Peregrine case doesn't happen too often. At the current pace, it's only a matter of time since the organization doesn't have the culture to obtain or keep the necessary talents to protect the customers.
