I have been working at National Health Service part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

The flexibility of being able to work when it suits me. Enjoyable being able to work across many different medical disciplines and build on skills/knowledge.

    Cons

Working on the nurse bank can cause some difficult behaviour with other staff, not all, but some. Most of the paperwork always seems to be extensive, from clinical notes to HR forms, nothing is ever made easy!

    Advice to Management

Bank nurses are there to help, yes we do it because the hours suit us; but nonetheless we are there to help when you most need us, and we are often made to feel very unwelcome and bottom of the chain. Most of us are very well experienced in many fields or nursing with good skills and knowledge, just because we work on the bank doesn't mean we're second rate nurses.
