I have been working at National Steel and Shipbuilding Company (General Dynamics) full-time (more than an year)

    Pros

You gain a lot of knowledge in areas outside your experience aiding in advancement. Advancement opportunities are fair and not based on a good ole boy system so opportunites arise and are available to everyone. The People communicate well adding to a positive atmosphere.

    Cons

They hire a lot of temps! becoming permanent can take a long time. Sometimes easy solutions are made overly complex and take an unnecessary amount of time due to some people shifting responsibility rather than just taking care of the issue themselves but I think theres a little of that in every company so not necessarily a con more than a mild annoyance.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

You get a lot of workers going through temp services but highly skilled workers that are needed usually don't want to go through temp services. They want something solid and although temp servicing has its pros of fast delivery of people, the con is that alot that come in go out just as quickly due to not being as skilled as needed. Hire people on through the company and I believe more skilled tradesmen will come in. And bring back bonus's. The better the employees are treated, the more loyal they'll be to the company.
