Hospital offers a decent environment, but that does not compensate for the lack of competitive benefits and pay.

I have been working at Nationwide Children's Hospital full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

Very nice facility with a lot of great people who are very passionate about what they do.

    Cons

No paid holidays or paid maternity leave. That's right, no maternity leave at a childrens hospital... What they do offer is that after 5 years of employment you will have accumulated enough short term disability to cover 6 weeks of leave on FMLA. Secondly, the HR department functions to protect the company and not the employee. Lastly, there is zero action taken to look into or address managers with low employee satisfaction ratings and/or high turnover.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

High employee turnover should be a huge red flag that a given manager is underperforming, and they should be placed on a work improvement plan. I've watched my entire section turnover twice in three years and no one bats an eye. If this is a company where everything matters it should really be reflected in how it's mid to low level employees are treated.
