    I have been working at Native American Health Center full-time (More than 5 years)


    A handful of staff members who are caring and hardworking. Fairly good benefits.


    Dental -- horrible and numerous patient complaints of poorly done dental work Medical -- patient problems not addressed in a timely and professional manner, poor follow up of patients, not enough time allotted for each patient to be seen properly and their problems addressed Overall -- poor telephonic system, no one can get through, numerous complaints. Favoritism and racism evident especially in Senior management. Nepotism evident. No room for advancement unless you're Native. Lack of follow through. Some great ideas but mostly all talk and no action. Indecisiveness and clinical suggestions denied by non-clinical upper management. Ineffective managers with no clinical skills -- evaluations not done in a timely manner, bad employees retained because of fear of confrontation. HR unresponsive and payroll unresponsive. Horrible on-boarding process. Lack of communication throughout the agency. No benefits for advancement of education. Unsafe environment with no parking spaces available. Offers help but do not actually mean it -- refusing to help when staff reaches out. No compensation for cost of living change. Ineffective union representatives.

    Advice to Management

    Treat each worker the same way whether they are the housekeeper or the doctor. Need to invest in training staff appropriately. Advancement opportunities for non-Native staff. Stop micromanaging employees. Stop favoring certain departments over others. Need to communicate effectively. Offer help when you're actually willing to help. Listen to the clinical staff when you have no clinical background.
