    Pros

Very balanced and happy coworkers. Almost everyone gets along almost too well. The environment is definitely laid back but manages that while still being challenging. You're working on something this country needs BADLY, which is always nice to remember, especially when you have a slow/bad day.

    Cons

Way too much management. It seems like senior management really believes you grow a business by segregating everyone into highly specialized products or "segments" and creating more management roles. A lot of outsiders are hired to positions that could have been filled internally. Moving up is typically slow, unless they get desperate with immediate needs. Engineers are treated like second class citizens by some departments. An example -- the Open product launch. Printed name tags were provided for everyone except the engineering team. They were then encouraged to sit in the corner, away from customers. They weren't invited to some of the more focused talks, either. However, both the CEO and VP of product spent time highlighting how important engineering was. Its not nearly as widespread a problem as many other companies, but its still an issue.

    Advice to Management

Empower your engineers. Give them more responsibility than developing one part of one segment of one product that was already designed, marketed and architected by four different management teams. Then pay them for it. Tell marketing and other departments to stop telling engineers they're too awkward to talk with customers.
