I have been working at Neighborhood Centers full-time

    Pros

-Very good salaries for a nonprofit.
-Several different departments to work with, learn from OR move around.
-A plethora of opportunities to volunteer in various communities with people from all ages and backgrounds whether your interest is kids, adults, education, or seniors.

    Cons

    -No employee moral.
-No incentive to stay or grow.
    -No employee recognition
    -Very, very HIGH turnover.

I have seen so many people be treated so unfairly and disrespected numerous of times. Let go without a warning, go on maternity leave to come back demoted or your asked to train your replacement and you don't even seeing it coming.

For an agency that does so much in the community people really have no idea what's going behind the scenes: It's a MESS!

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    1. Listen to your employees: When a staff member is having an HR exit interview they do not hold back. Take that information and figure out how you can improve the agency so a similar staff member does not have the same experience.

    2. Give employees an incentive to stay besides a paycheck. Neighborhood Centers attitude to their employees is YOU'VE GOT A JOB, BE GRATEFUL. That attitude is creating a horrible work ethic, environment and a horrible word on the street.

    3. The agency will spend thousands of dollars on different consultants to come in and evaluate how they can get more business, contracts, grow but never once thought of bringing in a consultant or firm to figure out why they have such high turn over.
