-See title. Great first job out of college- you get to tackle interesting projects and are given a lot of freedom and responsibilities from seniors. The general research and quantitative skills you develop are highly transferable and lay a great foundation for future jobs.
-Total nerd culture/firm. Chances are you won't ever work with smarter people. Very intellectually engaging culture, people are very friendly and easygoing, easy to get along with and hands-off. No crazy egos-just a collaborative environment where the best idea wins. Seniors respect your opinions and input and encourage discussion.
    -Relaxed work environment
-Great placement into graduate school programs, mainly MBAs but lots of PhDs and JDs too. Most NERA researchers end up going to the best schools.

-Hours are unpredictable, but this isn't necessarily specific to the company. Averaged out, the hours actually aren't bad. They're actually pretty good for consulting, it's just sometimes you sit around doing nothing and leave at 5, while other times you're working non-stop until midnight.
-Total nerd culture/firm. See above. The people may be easy to work for, but there isn't much interest in socializing and it can be tough to find things in common with certain seniors to talk about. People often complain of a lack of office culture. Small talk doesn't really exist so don't expect to become best friends with seniors. Wasn't really an issue for me personally but definitely a thing.
-Compensation is meh. Probably the biggest issue researchers have with NERA.
-Low ceiling in terms of career progression. Don't expect to make a career out of this. Ideally, stay for two years and enjoy the experience, but don't stay any longer. Cannot stress this enough.
-Since the pay isn't great and the career ceiling for researchers is so low, there aren't any benefits to staying after two years besides the comfort and familiarity. You're really not going to learn much more after two years. The longer you stay after that is really to your career's detriment. Go to business school or find another job where you can continue your career growth.

    Advice to Management

Pay a little more attention to your researchers and play a more active role in their development. They're only going to be there for a few years, but don't let them leave with a bad taste in their mouth. Either that or pay them more. NERA is the top economic consulting firm in the world, not only because of your economists, but also because of your researchers. They're the best and you should pay them like it.
