    I worked at NetApp full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

    Good benefits, good pay, good products, good systems engineers, fair managers (meaning willing to work out deals). The support from product management in the form of whitepapers, technical cookbooks, tools and staff to help with pricing, and other tactical tools are available at your finger tips.

    Cons

    The company is growing so fast they haven't time to develop a stable tactical plan. The CRM tools and product capabilities have been in flux. The organization changes each year has disrupted not only the culture but made messaging to partners and customers unclear. NetApp is failing to protect its brand and start up companies are emerging with just as capable products at a fraction of the price.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    Settle down and have a longer view then a quarter or fiscal year. Kind of feels like the old EMC. Share the three year plan with the field employees like you used to. Competition is tough and the preferred partners keeps changing annually. The messaging from marketing keeps changing which is perceived as a lack of a real product plan. The constant change in faces and positioning has resulted in distrust in the channel, with the customer, and with your employees.
