I have been working at New York City Department of Education full-time (less than an year)

    Pros

Have only been here for a few months, so this may not be the most accurate review compared to a longterm employee. The principal and the school staff seem to be very dedicated to the wellbeing of the students, but this is the school I am at and could be very different elsewhere. The training they provide in District 75 is outstanding....really unique.

    Cons

Some of the children are difficult to work with due to a history of negative behavior, but that is to be expected as this is not a community school. It is a school for children who have been discharged from community schools due to these behaviors. Some employees appear to be stuck in their ways regarding old teaching strategies and not implementing technology in the classroom where it could enhance the experience for the children. I can't fault the DOE for that as they hold many workshops where the opportunities for training are there. It is simply the mindset of some of the staff that I hope to help change.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

More effort to unify teaching strategies across classrooms and schools.
