    I have been working at New York ISO full-time (more than 3 years)


    Basically one of the highest paying companies in the area. If you're in the energy industry there aren't many other places to work near Albany. New facility. Cafeteria. Year-end bonus. Cost-of-living raise. Good benefits. Work from home. Flexible hours.


    Competing with everyone in your department to get a promotion. Only 1 promotion per department was given out last year. HUGE differences in pay. Even people that work on the same team and do the same work (or less) can have a $30k disparity in salary, which also means a big difference in bonus pay. Management likes to play favorites and give the best opportunities to their friends and the "yes" people. I've watched people sit on their hands and get rewarded while hard workers get the short end of the stick. Smart people that WANT to work end up leaving the company for more challenging endeavors. People that want to simply coast, stay under the radar, and conform are the ones that stay for 20+ years.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    Don't trust everyone in a management position. Just because someone is knowledgeable in the industry doesn't mean they will make a good supervisor or manager. Invest in employees who show interest in advancing and don't shoot them down when they try. But honestly with your salaries and bonuses what do you care?
