I worked at Newton-Wellesley Hospital full-time (more than an year)

    Pros

very supportive of new staff, flexible self scheduling, overall a great team with many RN's who have been there for more years than I've been alive. Good benefits, although I never took part in any since I was covered else where. Overall an excellent experience that I feel very fortunate to have.

    Cons

The team at times can be incredibly gossipy, as long as you don't participate I didn't see it as a true problem, just a bit of a block for overall morale. Many surgeons were difficult to work with and often slammed leadership while in the OR. Another chip for overall morale. We were often told the importance of 'speaking up' yet it didn't seem like administration set realistic expectations of the Dr.'s. In turn the team sort of got the hit of it.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Provide more support for team to speak up toward overly aggressive surgeons. Communicate and set better expectations for turn around time, especially over summer or other heavy vacation times.
