    I have been working at Nigel Frank International full-time (More than a year)


    I'm writing this because I overheard a colleague mention some negative reviews about NFI and I feel that people don't get the real picture of what this company is like. From someone who calls things the way they are, let's start with the pros. 1) The open floor layout and culture is definitely one of my favorite things about the company. I love the amount of energy in the office and amount of recent college grads as they all keep me alert and ensure I deliver so I don’t get passed. None of my prior jobs allowed me the freedom to dictate what and how I worked on my business. I have a territory and I run it as I see fit; if I’m not running it effectively, management steps in and tells me how to do better with what I have. The trip incentives are also sick! 2) The money is great and you CAN make $100k+ in your first year (I’m on a relatively new team and most are making this money). HOWEVER not a single one of them did it working 40 hours a week. They bust their butts off and take advantage of every minute of every day. 3) The career progression. Yes, yes.. everyone says you move up fast.. but it's not just that. The best part about this company is that if you are doing better than your boss, you can quickly become their equal and eventually their boss. The only time this happened in my previous jobs was when someone was fired and I replaced them. Never have I worked for a company where if I smoked the competition, I became the boss. This is a great company for people who want a challenge and are willing to take responsibility. If you have what it takes then you will be given the tools to achieve more than you ever imagined and learn a great lot about yourself along the way.


    All of the cons listed are simply people coming to terms with the fact that they should have listened to their gut and never taken a Sales job or are blaming others for their failures (like a negative review on Glassdoor). Those very same people are the ones who instead of owning up to their failures are blaming the company and other coworkers for their inability to deliver. That’s ok though, what the world needs more than anything right now is more people without ambition who blame others… 1). Like I said earlier, it's an open floor layout. This is brought to your attention right away when interviewing. If you don't like it or the fact that other people's words/actions/behaviors can enter into your personal bubble, then don't take this job. It's a Sales environment = energy and creativity. If you have a problem dealing with people, problems and social aspects.. then don't blame NFI as there is NO SALES JOB that will be good for you. Run, and run fast. 2) Yes, you don’t have a personal life and work-life balance sucks. First off, you don’t have a life because you choose not to have one. You know that 3 extra hours of work at night can literally mean thousands of commission dollars. Secondly, people say you only hang out with people from NFI. Yeah of course, they’re the only ones in your social circle that can afford the lavish lifestyle (ever played credit card roulette on a $4k bill?.?. exactly). Third of all, to say “you don’t have a life” is probably a good thing. The lifestyle I choose to live in my free time with the money I make means that I would likely kill myself from partying like a rockstar. Ask the Finance guys about their work hours. This is New York so shut up and deal with it. This is a dog eat dog city. Eat up. 3) Some reviews say that promotions are based off politics. Well guess what? Every job and every interaction in life is based off of politics. With that said you do have to hit a certain amount of metrics to get promoted, but you also have to be social and know how to interact with people. If I could choose my boss, I would take the 5th best biller who knows how to manage me over the top biller who is an introvert and doesn’t have the confidence or understanding or social skills to lead others. It is common to see people’s careers freeze but this is their own fault. Everyone is given the same opportunity and weapons to succeed, but not everyone possesses the same can do attitude and ambition. Two words: Broke. Losers.

    Advice to Management

    Nothing except to keep doing what you’re doing. You’re 10 years old and modeled your company off of a start-up. I get it. Not everything is perfect and there are growing pains right now. However, you have won numerous awards in the UK, San Fran and BEST COMPANY in New York; that’s a hell of an accomplishment. Oh yeah, you have also managed to dominate every market you move into – no small achievement. Some days I wish I had a little more say in matters, but you have given me an opportunity I didn’t think I would ever see in my life and trust you. Honestly, thank you. Forget about all the haters.. if you’re not in first place, then you’re hating. If the lazy people who whine and blame others don’t work out, good because I definitely don’t want the potential opportunity to lead them.
