I have been working at Nordstrom full-time for more than a year

    Pros

Opportunity to make a decent amount of money.
    Discount is "meh" 20%
Sometimes they give 40% for Nordstrom owned products
    33% on holidays
    Benefits

    Cons

"Slow season" (February- August). You will barely make money during those months because there will be hardly any customers to sell to. Management insists on hiring more people, despite the lack of customers during this time. More employees do not equal more customers/revenue! For a college student, you will live, but if you have real responsibilities (rent, car payment, etc) then look elsewhere for employment. TERRIBLE work/life balance. As soon as you leave work, you're back the next day. I'm at work more than I'm home. It is impossible to work part time on a commission only salary, because you will not meet quota and they will fire you. Work literally takes all of my energy and I become so tired that I can't even study. Oh and Nordstrom, you could at least throw in some coffee for those two hour long mandatory early morning meetings for upcoming events that we do not care about.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Look at each individual department's revenue. Departments with consistent patterns of making little money, does not need a lot employees on their teams. This makes people overly aggressive, we call them sharkies, and drives customers AWAY.
