Current Employee - Commissioned Sales Associate  in  Durham, NC
Current Employee - Commissioned Sales Associate in Durham, NC

I have been working at Nordstrom full-time for less than a year

    Pros

You learn a ton about customer service and other aspects of the fashion industry.

    Cons

Being in a low-traffic Nordstrom is the worst….barely any customers and less than 7% commission. There's no return policy so when customers make crazy returns any time they want it comes out of your pay check. Customers return things months and years later…holes, stains, worn, no tags and whatever. If you sold it to them it'll come out of your check no matter how hard you worked to get that sale or how much time you spent with the customers.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Stop blaming employees for not have consistently high sales. If it's a low traffic store, employees can't sell clothes to the walls. Stop making employees become telemarketers…making calls to each customer daily is annoying and ineffective. Customers hate it and it never works.
