I worked at Northrop Grumman full-time (more than 10 years)

    Pros

Initial experience was great. Good caring management and lots of opportunities. Good benefits at the time and freiendly coworkers. Company involved in local community events.

    Cons

Last 5 years out the 15 I worked there have been stressful. There is constant reorganization each time flushing out good people and leaving you with a bunch of unknow managers. Company business is Defense contracts and if the one you are on ends you are out of a job unless YOU can jump to another one. Managers do very little to find you work. Networking outside your group is important so that you have contacts within the company. Total focus has been on stock price and pleasing stockholders. Recent Gallup poll shows discontent among employees; however if you are the squeaky wheel you are a target for elimination so the manager can show improved results. Happened to me!

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Quit squeezing the company to reduce all costs and overhead. Focus on what yur customers want instead of what you think they need. Forget status quo and go win some new business and develop a way for current employees to transition to them.
