    I worked at Northrop Grumman

    Pros

It is a safe and secure environment to work. With a security clearance it is almost impossible to be laid off. Compensation is around market and the benefits are great. You will get in at 8 and leave at 4:42... (seriously, you have 42 minute lunches in parts of NGC)

    Cons

The skills learned there tend to be niche within the aerospace industry. So you tend to get pigeonholed into aerospace because the skills are non-transferable. Also pay increases are not really performance based. You will get between 3-5% a year even if you get a spectacular review. You have to threaten to leave or transfer within the company to get a significant bump in pay.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Continue to work to end the competition between sectors. There seemed to be a lot of in fighting between sectors and between groups within sectors. Managers always want more budget even when it's not necessary and they seemed to willing to fight with others for it. The best experiences I had at NGC where when I collaborated with NGC groups outside my own.
