    Pros

For me the pay has always been above market; I have always had plenty of flexibility when it comes to time off; They have great training opportunities like a 2 year Federal Contracting & Procurements cohort taught by UVA fully paid for by the company including all textbooks! They also have many other internally sponsored training programs as well as Skillsoft computer based training modules in every subject under the sun and Books 24X7 which is like having a Borders or Barnes & Noble bookstore at your disposal. You get to read any of their 1000s of books from cover to cover on lin. When I entertain the possibility of leaving, it is the great training options at my disposal that make me think twice.

    Cons

There is a lot of favoritism and going through the motions on promotion opportunities. The winning candidates have often already been picked - sometimes even before they apply for the job! They have to be told to apply for a job that they've been hand picked for. But, I imagine that's just the way of the world.

    Advice to Management

We have some amazingly non-IT ways of doing things for being an IT company.
The Performance Evaluation Process will not be perfected until subordinates are also required to evaluate their supervisors. That should be the way it is at every company.
