My experience at an outlier location was less than positive. Right location and team, excellent place to work.

Technological focus, strong communications, responsive to ethical concerns raised, generally reasonable in compensation and benefits. Company places emphasis on training, development and accountability for results.

Large bureaucracy with lack of flexibility. Program focus makes common structure rare; some programs, for example, have tuition assistance, many do not. Bit of a false advertising there; really changing from engineering culture to a finance culture, which can be problematic.

    Advice to Management

Pick up a copy of In Search of Excellence and review it. Limit acquisitions in the future to companies with strong correlations to established lines of business, and spin off those that have at best a tangential relationship.
