I enjoy working there. The pay is a lot lower then I had expected as a structure 2 mechanic

I have been working at Northrop Grumman full-time (More than 3 years)

Longevity. If you can handle getting paid less you can eventually get better compensation. 401k, and a partial match is ok. Medical benefits are ok, not as good as you would think. They do offer ed assist which is nice, if you choose to go to school while working at Northrop Grumman they will pay your full tuition as long as you pass the courses.

The pay for a structure mechanic is a lot lower then expected. Pay increases are low. Structure mechanics don't get the support they need to be efficient. They don't standardize the hours given to do a job from 1 build to the next. On the books mechanics look like they are less efficient from build to build. This is not the case, they are simply given less time to do the job. This reflects poorly on the mechanics reviews which is a major factor in pay increases.

    Advice to Management

Although upper management preaches to their other managers support mechanics, we have a hard time getting the support we need. I'd also would like to point out that entry level mechanics should have better pay increases. At 3 years of service they should be a structure 2 mechanic and should be paid at least $20 per hour. I'm training mechanics that are structure 4's they are making $25 per hour and I'm only at $17 per hour. With 3 years experiance I can make at least $20 per hour if I were going to apply somewhere else for a structure mechanic 2 job.
