I have been working at NovotusPros
I started out at Novotus in the Associate Recruiter program and really enjoyed the work that I was doing and learn a great amount of knowledge about an industry that I have never worked before. After a few months of proving myself I was put onto a few other project that expanded my skills and I was pushed to look outside the box in an encouraging way.
The working environment is great! Everyone in the office bands together like a family and it is a collaborating environment. I have received a lot of great tips and techniques from fellow recruiters that have more experience that I have. You have control on how to manage your desk and it is a flexible schedule if you have a doctors appointment or any other appointments.Cons
Being in the Associate Recruiter role I knew that it would take a few months and hard work to prove that I could do the role, but it took well over six months for the conversations to start on the transition to become a permanent employee. Then it took an additional 5-6 months for the process the be completed and to be transition to a permanent employee which was a little frustrating.
They have implemented new reporting that needs to be accurate daily and the goals that are set are not always realistic due to our work load but some of the managers are so metrics driven that it has affected the working environment and has made it more negative. You feel that you always have to defend your work and it still does not seem good enough. This new reporting and how everything has a number goal has taken some of the passion out of recruiting.
I also had applied to positions that were open within the company and that I felt were more inline with where I wanted my career to go but was not able to move forward they wanted to keep me in a recruiter role because they felt it was the right fit for me. I felt discouraged that I could not have the opportunity to expand in a new role that I feel is inline with my skills.
Pay is below market value and there are no options for raises and your bonus is directly tied to your performance.
Don't get my wrong I like where I work but it has changed and it is making me rethink where I want to be in the future.Advice to ManagementAdvice
Have open conversation with your employees about where they want to take their career and see if we have current position that we could grow into or position that maybe created in the future. Yes metrics do help but have the understanding that we try to hit those goals every weeks but it we miss it please don't bring on the guilt.
