I have been working at Oceana full-time

Oceana is an effective organization that is really helping to save the world's oceans. How cool is that? It is also a young organization and so employees get significant responsibility and the ability to build new ideas, digital efforts, campaigns and the like. Also, Oceana is international and you get to work with smart, interesting colleagues from Brazil, Chile, Canada, Spain, Belgium, Denmark, Belize, Peru, Philippines and more. And, the staff and management at Oceana are all impressive and smart and generally nice. There is a core of long term managers and directors who are committed to the organization and have helped it achieve a lot.

Oceana is growing fast and is very results driven. So, there are a lot of new projects, change and expectation of people achieving a lot. Everyone works hard. So, it can be rewarding but also hard work (and not always easy). Also, because Oceana is a young organization there are a limited number of positions to advance into. It is possible to move into new jobs but that often comes from growth. And, most of the training is on the job.

    Advice to Management

More training might be a good idea. As the comments below show, there are communication issues. Ironically, one of them is communicating to staff how the present (and long in place) CEO, Board and management team are responsible for much of the success, teamwork that many former employees feel so passionately about.
