I worked at Odyssey HealthCare full-time (more than 5 years)

It is a large company with good benefits. Some locations might be fine to work at. Employees are not supported. Managers afraid to advocate for their staff. My manager stated repeatedly that the benefit of doing a good job is that you get to keep it. What an attitude!!

Gentiva bought Odyssey which had a severe history with Medicare. Consequently, all sites are under scrutiny by Medicare. The company risks its existence if caught again being out of compliance. Hence, compliance has become paramount to the company and patient needs and care have taken a back seat.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

People work in hospice because they care about patients and their needs. Gentiva has turned into a company that cares about its own needs first. Growing the company and its reach has become your priority. Desparately need to stop kidding yourselves that you are putting patients first when actions don't indicate that.
