While the job on a daily basis can be demanding and difficult, the benefits of working at OSU are well worth it.

I have been working at Ohio State University Medical Center

    Pros

There are opportunities everywhere - to progress in your career, to affect change in processes, to move throughout the hospital, to need new people, etc. And the health insurance & retirement benefits are fantastic.

    Cons

There is a tendency to promote people who were good at their previous positions to the next level - which is fine if that person also has leadership skils. However, that is not always the case and leadership is not as strong as it should be. Some people also complain about parking, but that's never been an issue for me.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

I think Leadership / Management should be required to take management skills classes before beginning. I don't think it comes naturally to everyone and is a skill set that needs development. The staff on the ground deserve strong leaders to help direct them to grow as professionals.
