I worked at Ojai Valley Inn & Spa part-time (more than an year)Pros
Beautiful property, most co-workers seemed to be really nice easy-going folks, get to meet fascinating people from all over the world, and chances of a working directly with a celebrity are high (if your into that kind of thing).Cons
Pay is low when you consider just how much guests pay for even just one night's stay here.
If you do not have a management or full-time position, there's not a lot of job security when your position entails dealing directly with guests ("heart of the house" or "front of the house" positions). If you get enough "complaints" you can be dismissed even if you've received glowing reviews from other guests. It seems some of the people in management have not caught on to the "if I complain enough, I'll get a freebie/discount game." It's really sad that people will complain like this, not realizing someone's job might be in jeopardy.
There's also a lot of favoritism when it comes to promotions. I've seen people with more seniority and experience who are part-timers being passed over for full-time positions.
In a nutshell...Luxury hospitality can be rough. Some guests come feeling entitled because of how expensive it is to stay at OVIS. Not everyone is cut out for this type of business.Doesn't RecommendNeutral OutlookApproves of CEO
