I have been working at Old Dutch Foods full-time
Since there is a twenty word minimum, I will just write anything else since I can not think of any pros. I hope this passes the twenty word minimum since I'm not counting the words. Only pros thing I can think of is that vehicle costs is covered by the company which isn't too bad. And customers/clients are great once you settle in your route. Last pros would be to read this section and consider yourself warned.
The amount of work for the compensation that is given isn't fair, granted it is commissioned based with "uncapped" potential, as a Field Sales Representative, you are still limited in a sense that the product doesn't have 100% turnover so you can't sell as much as you want since you'll end up either buying it back/staling the product out. It also varies by the movement per store, unlike say if you were to be in Real Estate, you can sell as many houses you want and continue selling since they're not returning the houses back to you. Cash handling is another cons since you're also worrying about the cash you carry per day. Also, everything rests on your shoulders especially if it's a mistake, whether its you who made it or somebody else. It falls on you. You take a day off/going on vacation, it falls on you if the mistake was made on your time off. Truck breaks down, it's on you. Anything and everything is on you as a Field Sales Rep of your own route. You call in sick, no one is there but you. No teamwork at all. Your manager will still blame you. If you're looking for growth, this is not the company for you.
Advice to Management
Read reviews on different job boards and websites. Learn and improve. As current employees, we have the feeling of being restricted to what we can say since some of the managers can't take positive criticism. There will be times that you wouldn't feel like a Sales Rep and be treated like an hourly employee yet you get paid by commission.
