It's a great place to work if you want just over minimum wage and to be treated like a toddler.

I have been working at Old Navy part-time (less than a year)

    Pros

It's a job. You can blend in to the crowd, because to them you're just a faceless bonus boost to management.

    Cons

Low pay, they expect you to eat, sleep, and breathe the brand, no benefits, no PTO, no holiday pay, incompetence of management, working really hard to give management bonuses while I receive nothing, they don't care about employees or their time, home life, or well being; They treat you like a toddler and as though you never could have had a life or job before them. They treat you like you can absolutely bring nothing to the table. Oh yea, register area is completely cramped (one square foot of space per person to stand in and the same counter space), and you're not considered competent enough to handle more than ones and fives at the register. No room for advancement. Also, from a consumer standpoint, their clothes are certainly not as "affordable" as they seem to think. You can get the same type of stuff pretty much anywhere else, but not ugly, while spending less money.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Hire a set amount of employees to cover specific shifts. If you're open 9-9 for example, hire day shift employees (8-5) and night shift employees (2-10). That way there is overlap of extra employees during the busiest time and everyone gets full time, while needing less employees. Realize that your adult employees have held other jobs and have experience to bring to the table. Also realize that most people are competent enough to handle larger amounts of money and not need someone glaring over their shoulder every five seconds. Oh yea, and their clothes are freaking ugly. I would never wear anything that they are currently promoting, yet I'm supposed to show my "love" for the brand at all times.
