    I worked at Omni Hotels

    Pros

    This company has a lot of money behind it and will invest in a property to bring it up to a new level. It is expected that current employees be treated respectfully and their problems addressed so that corporate does not have to get involved. They have some good recognition programs and the bi-monthly employee meetings are fun and motivating.

    Cons

    Communication is very poor. NO ONE knows what is going on so rumors are rampant. Meetings are scheduled and cancelled and the standard for department meetings are monthly. A new employee can start without orientation and be lost until they are finally brought in for it. After this, training and development is focused managers. And unfortunately, the company shows preference to the promotion and selection of younger managers.

    There are a lot of policies and procedures you will sign an acknowledgement for, but good luck seeing a comprehensive employee handbook. Much of it will be shared randomly as issues arise. You will be told how to do things by the property's management team, but when corporate comes to visit, you hear something different. And rules apply to some but not others. Standards are supposedly strict, but then you will see corporate and other members of management doing something different (grooming, hanging out on property, etc.) Very confusing.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    If you did everything you say on paper, communicate more from the top down and laterally, and offer more useful training to all, it would be so much better.
